Mid-September always brings a very exciting week with the arrival of National Assisted Living Week. This year it was September 12th through the 18th, and we had a very full week of lots of fun and exciting events! A very sweet start to our week was our Sunday service with Dr. Bob Agee, and a lovely time with family as we celebrated Grandparents Day with a reception and family photos in the courtyard.

On Monday, we had “Breakfast on the Grounds,” taking full advantage of the cooler temperatures and enjoying our courtyard areas, delicious food, good company, and fresh air! Then, after lunch, Mayor Scott Conger made a proclamation about National Assisted Living Week to our residents and guests, and presented two very special awards to two amazing residents here at Regency, Ms. Angeline Crews and Mr. Judge Davis. This was followed by a reception and music in the lobby.

On Tuesday, we had the Flu Clinic at Regency, during which everyone had the opportunity to receive their flu and pneumonia shots. We also had eight clinical nursing students, along with their instructor, from the University of Memphis– Lambuth campus, who spent the morning with us helping with activities, decorating, and assisting in any way needed for community service. We appreciated them so much! I know that a huge highlight of everyone’s day was when Duane Dickerson came to call BINGO, and served ice cream sundaes afterwards. What a fantastic way to end a BINGO game!

Wednesday, we had our Fine Arts Showcase in memory of Mr. Franciscus Poppelaars, and then a gospel singing with Living Truth that night after supper. Thursday we had a Regency Bucks auction with auctioneer Gary Williams, and lots of goodies! Friday, was our tailgate party and cookout, and Saturday, Maggie and Friends’ therapy dog, Tux, came in to do his tricks for the residents! It was such a wonderful week of fun.
